Asylum Seekers Report for April 28, 2019

  • From April 12 through today, April 28, 2019, 2,508 asylum seekers have been served in Las Cruces.

  • 122 asylum seekers were received yesterday, April 27, 2019. The outflow was 124, including two who were sheltered in Las Cruces on Friday, April 26. There were no asylum seekers (0) who were sheltered overnight, Saturday to Sunday, in Las Cruces.

  • On Sunday, April 29, 2019, approximately 78 asylum seekers were brought to Las Cruces. All of them have been sent, or were in the process of being sent, to Annunciation House, in El Paso.

  • The greatest “asks” at this time include continuing to ask for vans from the state of New Mexico to transport asylum seekers. Also, approximately 300 plastic and metal chairs are needed for the new centralized facility, at 1300 Brown Road.
