“The History of Mesilla,” by David G. Thomas, at Branigan Cultural Center 2019
The monthly History Notes lecture, at 1 p.m. March 14, 2019 at the Branigan Cultural Center, 501 N. Main St., will feature David Thomas, local historian and author, who will present “The History of Mesilla.”
Mr. Thomas will take a broad look at Mesilla’s varied past, examining events from the Mexican American War, the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo, the founding of Mesilla, to the Gadsden Purchase, and Billy the Kid’s trial.
“History Notes,” a lecture on historical topics, is the second Thursday of every month. Lectures are free to the public. Check the Branigan Cultural Center webpage for a full listing of these and other public programs.
