The Secret Life of Salvador Dali, The Museum of Art Reading Art Book Club 2019
The Reading Art Book Club meets at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, in the Las Cruces Museum of Art, 491 North Main Street. This month’s selection is The Secret Life of Salvador Dali by Salvador Dali.
Painter, designer, and filmmaker Salvador Dali (1904-1989) was one of the most colorful and controversial figures in 20th century art. A pioneer of surrealism, he was both praised and reviled for the subconscious imagery he projected into his paintings, which he sometimes referred to as “hand-painted dream photographs.”
This early autobiography, which takes him through his late thirties, is as startling and unpredictable as his art. It is illustrated with more than 80 photographs of Dali and his works, and scores of his drawings and sketches.
The Reading Art Book Club meetings are free and open to the public. Join us even if you haven’t read the book! For more information or for details on book selections, contact Bryan Lee, museum curator of education, at 575/541-2217 or email@example.com.
The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For additional information, visit the website at: http://las-cruces.org/museums or call 575/541-2137.
