Water Outage Planned for Portland Drive and Happy Trails North 2019

Residents and businesses along Portland Drive and Happy Trails North will experience a water outage between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. beginning Thursday, March 28.

The affected areas will include:

• Businesses along Portland Drive (southeast of the intersection at Certified Place to the end of the cul-de-sac)

• Residents with addresses between 144 and 201 along Happy Trails North

Adjacent areas also may be affected by the outage. If water on your street is scheduled to be turned off, crews will post a door hanger notice a minimum of 24 hours in advance.

Once service is restored, residents may notice discolored water due to iron, manganese, and calcium deposits. Although the water is safe to drink, the city recommends waiting to wash laundry until after the water becomes clear.

The discoloration should disappear within 24 hours. If it does not, residents should flush all faucets in the house for five minutes. If the discoloration remains, call the Las Cruces Utilities Dispatch at 526-0500 for assistance.
